Since 1999, the State of Tennessee has intentionally withheld over $2.1 billion that rightfully belongs to TSU. In an effort to attempt to save the University as a whole, TSU has already laid off staff members, cut out band trips and more! This is concerning because people are losing their jobs, not because of a mismanagement of funds on TSU’s part, but because the state of Tennessee refuses to release the money that is owed to the university. The university has reached out to students earlier this year to notify them that some previously awarded scholarships will be retracted in hopes to save the university.
For her 30th birthday, Ja’Mecia Spivey, is organizing and hosting a charity event, #ProjectSaveTSU, to award (2) $1,000 scholarships to two deserving students at Tennessee State University (TSU). This event will be held on May 10, 2025 at 9:00am at Noir Kitchen and Cocktails. Chad White, Josh Brooks and Cameron Forrest, 3 Alumni of Tennessee State University, have generously offered for me to host this event at their restaurant because they also feel the urgency of this cause.
In addition to purchasing a ticket of attendance, please consider making a financial donation to the TSU scholarship fundraiser. The faith goal is to gift (2) $1,000 scholarships to two current TSU students and hopefully even more! Every dollar amount counts. All donations are income tax deductible.
