Woman hit, killed by train in Murfreesboro; police seek to ID her

Police in Murfreesboro have asked the public’s help in identifying a woman who was hit and killed by a train. Police said she was struck Sunday near the CSX railroad crossing at Old Salem Highway near Patterson Avenue. She appears to have walked into the path of the train. Police described her as a white female, between 40 and 45, and approximately 5’3” to 5’6” tall, with a medium build. Anyone with information should contact Detective Julie Cox at (629) 201-5514.


Murfreesboro Police: Search for suspect underway after shots fired at officers

Murfreesboro Police have identified a man who they say fired shots at officers after a pursuit on Friday. Larenzo D. Flowers, 26, of Murfreesboro is charged with five counts of attempted second degree murder, two counts of evading arrest. Flowers remains behind bars on a $757,500 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Rutherford County General Sessions Court February 11.


CORY BOOKER DROPS OUT OF RACE

The field of Democratic Presidential candidates got a little smaller today . New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is dropping his bid for the White House. Booker announced in an E-mail to supporters, “I got in the race for President because I believed to my core that the answer to the common pain Americans are feeling right now, the answer to Donald Trump’s hatred and division, is to reignite our spirit of common purpose to take on our biggest challenges and build a more just and fair country for everyone… I will carry this fight forward — I just won’t be doing it as a candidate for President this year.”


Wanted man picks up baby as police try to arrest him

A wanted man in Nashville tried to put a baby between himself and police as officers attempted to arrest him. Two Metro Nashville officers were trying to serve 41 year old Dameon McKinley with the felony aggravated assault warrant. McKinley then allegedly picked up an infant child as police approached. McKinley refused to put down the baby as police tried to deescalate the situation. The suspect also began to threaten the officers while holding the baby. He was eventually placed in police custody and charged with the outstanding aggravated assault for strangulation and assault of an officer. He was booked on a $20,000 bond but has since bonded out.


2 killed in Hermitage murder-suicide

Two people were killed in a murder-suicide in Hermitage. Metro Nashville Police officers responded to a home on the 4300 block of Central Valley Drive Monday afternoon. Officials say it appears that 80-year-old Wayne Wilson shot his daughter-in-law, 51-year-old Catherine Wilson, then shot himself. They were found by Wayne’s son (Catherine’s husband)
