Teens charged for robbing 62-year-old woman at gunpoint outside her home

Two teens were arrested after police say they robbed a 62-year-old woman at gunpoint as she was unloading groceries at her home in Green Hills. Metro Nashville police said 16-year-old Troy Cole and 15-year-old Christon Collins demanded money from the victim and blocked her from getting back into her car. Cole and Collins,  were arrested Wednesday and charged for aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.

NASHVILLE MAN CHARGED

A 20-year-old man has been charged with attempted criminal homicide after shooting his lover multiple times during an “intimate” meetup in North Nashville. Shaheem Hyde was picked up at his residence just after midnight Wednesday by a man who he was in an “intimate relationship” with for about a month. Hyde was booked into the Metro jail Friday morning on charges including attempted criminal homicide, vandalism and being a felon in possession of a weapon. His bond was set at $555,000.


TN NAMED TOP STAT WITH HIGHEST RATE OF KILLINGS

Tennessee was named one of the states with the highest rates of women murdered by men, according to a recent study conducted by Violence Policy Center. The study analyzed national homicide data that was submitted to the FBI by local law enforcement agencies. Tennessee tied with South Carolina for No. 5.

The top ten states where women are murdered by men are:

1. Alaska
2. Louisiana
3. Arkansas
4. Nevada
5. Tennessee / South Carolina
7. Arizona
8. Montana
9. Vermont
10. Georgia

Nationally, the research found women were murdered by their husbands or a romantic partner 11 times more than women who were killed by strangers. Violence Policy Center is a national nonprofit educational organization that researches and educates the public on violence in America.
