She Get It From Her Mama: This Is Naomi Campbell’s Mother At 64 Years Old

If the phrase “she get it from her mama” doesn’t apply to any other situation, it definitely holds true in the case of Naomi Campbell. The supermodel’s 64-year-old mother Valerie Morris-Campbell was the subject of a recent Instagram dedication from Campbell, and led to turning heads. Epitomizing the popular consensus that #BlackDontCrack, the photo of Morris-Campbell, a former model and dancer, is offers a bit more context for her daughter’s fabulous ways.

Campbell, who is 45 and has been a model since the age of seven, sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2010 to discuss her relationship with her mother. The model welled up into tears as her mother recalled placing her into the care of others to pursue a better live. Morris-Campbell admitted “I do feel like I abandoned her,” and Campbell replied, “Of course I understand the sacrifice she had to make.” These days, however, it seems the two have a stronger mother-daughter bond, according to their Instagram dedications.

On International Women’s Day, Campbell received a “Women Leading Change” award from former Israeli president Shimon Peres, and her mother posted a proud message.

“To my wonderful daughter @iamnaomicampbell being there to see you receive your award from President Peres was a very special moment for me! I am so very proud of you! love Mum,” she wrote.
