She ended up attending the awards show with Shakur, which caught Madonna’s attention. “She came up to me and she was like, ‘Yo, what’s up? Y’all are together?’ the Oscar-nominated actress recalls. When Perez assured her they weren’t dating, Madonna asked her, “Hook me up.” Perez made the introductions, and the two music icons ended up having a secretive relationship from 1993-1994. Madonna confirmed their relationship during a 2015 interview with Howard Stern. “I was dating Tupac Shakur … and he got me all riled up on life in general,” Madonna said, admitting that the rap star made her feel “very gangster” when she was with him.
