Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conquerer was going to be the next major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When Majors was convicted of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault last year, Marvel dropped him from upcoming movies.
On Saturday, Marvel revealed that Robert Downey, Jr. would re-enter the MCU as Dr. Doom, replacing the Kang storylines.
Majors spoke to TMZ about the decision on Wednesday. He said, “Yeah, heartbroken. Of course. I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though.”
When the interviewer asked Majors about Downey Jr’s past legal issues and subsequent redemption, Jonathan replied, “I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love … and [he’s] being allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level. I didn’t really get that.”
Majors was asked if he would return to the Kang role if Marvel asked him. He replied, “If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants, then let’s roll. Hell yeah.”
