After the controversy of Kanye West wearing a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt at his YZY Season 9 Fashion Show, Ye has gone further.
On Tuesday morning, West put up an Instagram post saying, “Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam. Now it’s over…you’re welcome.”
“White Lives Matter” has been called a hate slogan by the Anti-Defamation League. The term undermines the true meaning of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Jaden Smith, Boosie, and many others were vocal about Kanye’s choice of attire.
Smith was at Ye’s Paris fashion show and left because of the t-shirt. He later tweeted “Black Lives Matter” and “True Leaders Lead.”
Boosie took a blunt approach tweeting, “AFTER ALL WE BEEN THROUGH AS A RACE YOU PUT THIS DISRESPECTFUL S*T ON. U GIVES NO FS ABOUT HOW BLACKS HAVE DIED N SUFFERED TO THE HANDS OF THE WHITE MAN. N U SAY BUSH DONT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE.. REALLY ‘N.”
Black Lives Matter has responded to Kanye West’s “White Lives Matter” shirt.
The social justice org says the T-shirt is a stunt and an affront to the movement, noting that “All Lives Matter” and “White Lives Matter have long served as violent retorts to Black Lives Matter. They call his move a “distraction” that can “spread toxic confusion” and “be used to legitimize violent assaults on Black people.”
