Mystikal was arrested in July 2022 for multiple serious offenses, including Louisiana’s obligatory life sentence for first-degree rape.
A court extended Mystikal’s trial to May 19 on Monday (March 17) while the rapper continues to claim innocence.
Michael Tyler, known as Mystikal, was arrested at the Ascension Parish Prison on July 30, 2022, for first-degree rape, simple robbery, property damage, domestic abuse battery, strangulation, false imprisonment, and four narcotics possession convictions.
Tyler, 54, was expected to submit his plea on Monday, according to KLFY. The judge postponed the matter until next month. Mystikal denied the charges despite authorities noting the victim looked to have suffered physical hurt and sorrow.
Tyler pleaded guilty to sexual battery in 2003 and served six years in prison, according to the outlet. Tyler’s 2016 kidnapping and sexual assault charges were dropped.
