Young Thug’s long nightmare is over. He’s going to avoid prison in his state RICO trial in Georgia.
Thug pleaded guilty today (Thursday), just two days after his co-defendant Quamarvious Nichols entered a guilty plea. But unlike Nichols, who’ll spend at least seven years in prison, Thugger will just serve 15 years’ probation instead.
The crazy part is that he didn’t even make a deal with prosecutors. Judge Paige Whitaker asked Thug if he’d agreed to a non-negotiated plea, and after a brief recess, handed down the sentence herself. He pleaded guilty to drug- and gun-related charges and no contest to charges of conspiracy and participating in a street gang.
Whitaker sentenced him to 40 years in prison, of which he’d just have to serve five. But she also gave him credit for time served and simply allowed him to go on probation. But if he doesn’t keep his nose clean, he could go away for 20 years.
