Coko (SWV) was one of the hundreds of people who were stranded on Interstate 95 in Northern Virginia due to dangerous road conditions from a winter storm

On Tuesday (Jan. 4), the SWV singer took to Instagram to share an account of what she went through after being stuck in her vehicle for almost 10 hours. “Today is a great day!! I don’t look like what I’ve been through!” she captioned the post.
“Yesterday. I was stuck on I95 north for 9.5 hours! I got stuck on a pile of snow, ppl were kind enough to push me out,” Coko added. “My car is damaged a bit but, @jayyemichael and I are safe. I made it to a hotel where I shall remain until I can go home. I have NEVER experienced anything like this before!!! I thank God for keeping us safe!! No more road trips [for] me.”
As REVOLT previously reported, on Monday (Jan. 3), a winter storm brought up to a foot of snow to the northern Virginia area. Several tractor-trailers jackknifed in the snow and ice, causing a chain reaction of cars to lose control on the wintry highway. People were left stranded overnight in freezing temperatures without food or water. Several drivers were also running low on fuel.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said both directions of traffic on I-95 were at a standstill on Monday. On Tuesday morning (Jan. 4), the agency had crews ready to help assist people who were trapped on the interstate for more than 10 hours.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam tweeted that “an emergency message is going to all stranded drivers connecting them to support, and the state is working with localities to open warming shelters as needed.”
