LOCAL MUSIC PRODUCER ARRESTED ON CHILD SEX CHARGES

A Williamson County grand jury indicted Samuel Sylvester, 50, with seven counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, seven counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, aggravated sexual battery and two counts of rape of a child. The allegations involve children 12 and 16 years old.

Sylvester was arrested Friday after a client he worked with as a music producer came forward with allegations. , Sylvester runs Leumas Music Productions, which he originally started in Minnesota in 1995.


JOHN COOPER ANNOUNES PLANS FOR BODY CAMERAS

Yesterday, Mayor John Cooper announced a plan to deploy 44 cameras in 2020, three years after body cams became a top priority. Under the plan, “approximately two dozen” cameras would go to DUI and traffic officers in March. In May, an additional 20 cameras would roll out to patrol officers for three to six months. The limited rollout will move forward after the police department installs equipment that will allow officers across the city to upload their camera footage wirelessly. There is no timeline for the full implementation of body cameras department-wide.


6 People, Including Cop, Reportedly Killed in Jersey City Standoff

  • Six people, including one police officer, were killed in a standoff with gunmen in Jersey City, New Jersey, on Tuesday.
  • Detective Joe Seals was killed in a cemetery by two gunmen; the pair fled to a nearby kosher deli.
  • In the ensuing firefight at the second location, five people were shot and killed, including the gunmen.
  • Nearby schools and businesses were placed on lockdown, and bus and rail service were suspended.
  • “This is one of the biggest gunfights I’ve seen in awhile, and I’ve been in Vietnam,” said a witness.
  • Jersey City is located across the Hudson River from New York City.

MEMPHIS WOMEN ARRESTED AT FRANKLIN MALL

Four Memphis women were arrested after Franklin police say they tried to get away after shoplifting. Eugenia Thomas, Samora Woods, and Davianna Livingston all entered Macy’s and began quickly grabbing large quantities of merchandise. The driver, Laquasha Irving was waiting outside. According to officials, 61 stolen items valued at $4,300 were recovered along with anti-theft tools and marijuana. The officer was not seriously hurt. All four women were freed on bond and are due in court Dec. 19.


2 FOUN DEAD IN FRANKLIN HOME

The Franklin Police Department  is investigating a situation in which  a 43-year-old mom and her 12-year-old son were found dead inside a home yesterday. According to police, they both died from gunshot wounds. The home is on the 300 block Mealer Street in the Hurstbourne Park neighborhood. A family member of the victims called police around 5:25 p.m. Tuesday after they found the mother and child. Police said there is no danger to the public and they do not believe there is an at-large suspect.


A woman accused/CHARGED of trying to run over a crossing guard

A woman accused of trying to run over a crossing guard because she got impatient with school traffic has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Video posted on Facebook  shows Matasha Hodges behind the wheel outside Hull Jackson Montessori Magnet School. You can see the car inch forward, pushing the crossing guard into the middle of the road. Eventually the crossing guard lets her through and the car speeds off. The crossing guard said Hodges threatened casualties at the school. Hodges has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
