21-year-old dead after East Nashville crash

A 21-year-old Nashvillian has died after a crash yesterday morning. MNPD say Austin Watkins lost control of his SUV on Fairwin Avenue before shooting out onto Gallatin Pike where the vehicle was T-boned by another SUV. Police say Watkins died at the scene of the crash. A medical issue may have contributed to the accident. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.


Pregnant woman shot near Hadley Park; suspect sought, police say

A pregnant woman was shot near Hadley Park on Tuesday morning. The shooting happened on the corner of 28th Avenue N. and Herman Street.  23-year-old Tiffany Barrett was grazed in the stomach and struck in the leg. Police are searching and have an attempted murder warrant out for for the suspect, 24-year-old Gerald Hardy Jr. Hardy’s girlfriend allegedly owes Barrett money for babysitting and the issue led to the shooting. Anyone with information on where he could be was asked to call CrimeStoppers at 615-742-7463.


Police: Goodlettsville babysitter charged with child rape  

Authorities in Goodlettsville say they’ve arrested 20 year old Demetriona Harper,  accused of raping a boy she was babysitting. She has been charged with felony child rape. A police arrest affidavit says Harper was babysitting a 12-year-old boy when she admitted to letting things “go too far” and that she made a mistake. It’s unclear whether Harper has an attorney who can comment on her behalf.

Three ex-cons arrested in connection to 2017 murder

Three ex-cons were arrested for the 2017 murder of Marall Edwards of  Nashville. DNA science contributed to the arrests of convicted robber Kurtis Word, and convicted  felons Kevin Hoggett and Larry Beddingfield. Marall Edwards was found shot and killed at his apartment in the Acklen Park complex on Acklen Park Drive in July 2017. They’re being held in jail on a $500,000 bond each.
