Although the US Supreme Court has ruled against life without parole for juveniles, Cyntonia Brown is apparently the exception. The Tennessee attorney general’s office disagrees, saying Brown should be eligible for parole after 51 years. According to advocates, the then 16 year old was a teen sex trafficking victim, and shot 43 year old real estate agent, Johnny Allen in the back of the head after bringing a loaded gun to rob him. Her attorneys say she was not mentally culpable because of her mother’s alcohol abuse while in the womb. Brown is now 30 years old and would be 68 before she could possibly be eligible for parole.
