George Zimmerman is back in the news again. The man who first made headlines for killing an unarmed black teen more than four years ago is now auctioning off the weapon he used.
Zimmerman put the Kel-Tec PF-9 nine-millimeter handgun up for sale on GunBroker.com with an opening bid of $5,000 and an undisclosed “reserve price” the winning bidder must meet or surpass.
The 32-year-old Florida resident was acquitted in the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who he claimed he shot in self-defense.
In the description of the gun, Zimmerman wrote, “I am honored and humbled to announce the sale of an American Firearm Icon. The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin on 2/26/2012…This is a piece of American History.”
