Kenneth Brian Evans…but I think we all know him by the name Babyface.
Many may not know, but he obtained that famous nickname from Bootsy Collins while performing with him earlier in his career. Along with his gentle face, he was a pretty shy guy as a youngster. He started writing songs as a way to express some of his emotions. It wasn’t until after his father passed, around the age of 13, that he became dedicated to his goal of being a successul musician.
He went from playing with Bootsy to gigs with The Deele, writing hits for Midnight Starr, Sheena Easton, and Karyn White. I bet you didnt know he wrote, produced, and provided background vocals for Bobby Brown back in the day AND Madonna’s 1994 album Bedtime Stories did ya?
Yeah, the boy is bad.
I wonder what the energy was like to have him, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West in the studio together for Wayne’s song “Comfortable” off the Carter III album. Had to be the highest vibration evaaa!!!
Ok, lemme calm down. *breathes in brown paper bag*
I think we easily forget just how amazingly dope many artist like Babyface were and still are in the music industry. They worked hard and it wasn’t so much about the flashy display of what they had but instead it was about the music. I think we all felt that when we listened too.
If you really listen to the backgrounds of this one, you’ll totally hear Babyface! Check it out.
