“Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may be one of the toughest S.O.B.’s to set foot in a WWE ring (not to mention a certified action movie star), but even he has struggled with personal obstacles on the way to success.
In an upcoming episode of “Oprah’s Master Class,” the 43-year-old entertainer opens up about his past demons while revealing his struggles with depression. Turns out, the depression stems from the NFL taking a pass on bringing Johnson into the league after a successful four-year football career at the University Miami that was got halted by an injury.
In addition, Johnson discusses his family as well as the transition he made from being a star football player to pro wrestling icon to popular actor.
As he addressed his depression, Johnson provided a moment of inspiration as he expressed how he was able to overcome his condition and move forward with his life.
“I found that with depression one of the most important things you could realize is that you’re not alone. You’re not the first to go through it,” he says. “I wish I had someone at that time who could just pull me aside and [say], ‘Hey, it’s going to be okay.’”
“Oprah’s Master Class” with Dwayne Johnson will air at 8/7c on Sunday (Nov. 22) on OWN.
